Wyoming State Board of Funeral Service Practitioners

The Wyoming Board of Funeral Service Practitioners is staffed through the Professional Licensing Boards Office, a division of A&I.

Creation of the Board

The Board of Embalming was created in 1915 to protect the welfare of the citizens of Wyoming by regulating the practice of embalmers and funeral directors. Wyoming Legislature changed the name of the board to the State Board of Funeral Service Practitioners in 2014 and allowed for elimination of regulation of the funeral director, making all those licensed to practice funeral service "funeral service practitioners."  The Board operations are fully supported by fees established and collected and relies on no General Fund monies. The Board's administrative services are provided by the Department of Administration and Information, Professional Licensing Boards Division.

Mission of the Board

The Wyoming Board of Funeral Service Practitioners mission is to regulate the practice of professional funeral service in Wyoming in order to safeguard life, health, and property and to promote the public welfare of the citizens of Wyoming, by ensuring that those individuals licensed to provide funeral services in this state are appropriately qualified.
